Dallas Day Trip Ideas

Dallas Day Trip Ideas

Dallas isn’t like many east coast cities where you can travel just a few short hours and be at the beach or the mountains or in another state. So we have to make do with what we have in Texas.

Depending on whether you want to go east, west, north or south, we can help you out with Dallas Day Trip Ideas.  First, check out our Dallas Day Trip Ideas page where ideas are broken out by direction.  Also included on this page is a handy list of factory tours.

Factories are a great way to teach children, especially those inquisitive ones, how things work. Around about age 4 children start to ask these questions. You can satisfy their curiosity and have a little educational fun at factories or behind-the-scenes tours.  We’ve listed some local behind-the-scenes tours on our 100+ Summer Ideas page.

Just traveling across town to Fort Worth or Arlington can be a day trip for those of us in the eastern Dallas suburbs. So be sure to check out our Museums page for more ideas of places across town including Denton, Denison and Sherman.

If your children like animals, there’s always the Dallas Zoo or Fort Worth Zoo, which can be considered a day trip for some of us.  There’s also a quaint zoo up in Gainesville on our Zoos and Aquariums page.

If you want to make sure your child doesn’t experience the “summer slide” and get rusty on their basic skills, sneak a little education into your day trips or all other activities.  We don’t expect you to lecture them for an hour on the meaning of life or why someone painted what they did, just a few tidbits here and there to keep their brain stimulated and active during summer. Keeping their brain busy will give them a head-start when school starts.

For more Dallas Day Trip Ideas and activities to do, be sure to check out our book, Kidding Around Town.  It provides not just places to go, but teaching tips for each location type.  Spend a few minutes to teach your child every place you go and that will help keep their brain engaged and avoid that dreaded “summer slide.”  Learning doesn’t have to be boring!

Hurry! Kidding Around Town is on sale THROUGH JUNE 30!!
