Martial arts teaches your child respect – respect of themselves, their family, friends, teachers –everyone.  They also have a great reward system that helps reinforce good behaviors at home.  Each week USA Martial Arts provides your child with a take-home chart for them to complete. It lists basic tasks such as brushing your teeth, taking a bath, using respect, eating to win etc. While you teach your child these things at home, it always helps to have someone else emphasizing them too.

We brought our chart home and dutifully checked the boxes that applied to us that week. When the week was complete, we brought our chart in. At the end of each class Mr. Ortega reviewed them. If the child has performed satisfactorily, they received a blue stripe on their belt. You’d be amazed at how proud the kids are of these stripes & how they want to get a stripe!

Mr. Ortega and Ms. Fitzerman, the new owner of the gym, are great with the kids.  They start each class by having the kids warm up running laps around the gym and stretching. My son loved the running! Great way to burn off some of that energy!

During the class the children are instructed on kicking and various other martial arts moves. The kids really seem to love it!
