Fun in the Sun! If you want to find a truly fun place for the whole family on these hot summer days, it would be Hawaiian Falls, The Colony, TX. There is something every age will enjoy!
With very reasonable prices (kids 2 and under are free, kids 48" and seniors are $8, and adults are $15 for an all day pass), you definitely get your money's worth. There are café and snack shacks where you can purchase food/drinks, but you are also welcome to bring a cooler with your own lunch goodies.
If you have kids that are under 12, you'll spend a lot of time in Keiki Kove playground area. They have several cool slides for different size kids with plenty of water spraying/splashing going on! Adults are allowed to join in, but kids that are over 12 will get asked to leave. There are many lifeguards on duty to make sure everyone is playing safely and within the rules.
Throughout the park, 48" is a defining height! For kids under this height, there is the
playground mentioned above, the wave pool (that even adults love) and the lazy river. The lazy river is only 3' all the way around, so even my 3 year old swam the whole time. But, there are plenty of life jackets and tubes if you want to really relax. Besides a brief lunch break, I did these three things with my smaller kids for 5 1/2 hours and none of us got tired of it!
For those that are over 48", there are several (at least 6) large, exciting water slides!
They have very cool 2-seat tubes and you need to have a partner to ride with on one of the slides. It's optional on others.
There are private cabanas for up to 8 people that you can reserve for $100. That includes a personal waiter, your own lockers, 8 admission tickets, etc. You can also check their website for special offers and birthday party info.
It is an exciting place to spend the day (my daughter said it was better than Sea World :)). If you have little ones who need a nap, the nice thing is you have an all-day pass. You could leave the park, get a stamp, and re-enter the park for free during that day and stay until closing. Or just pass out in the shade like my little one did! It will tire your kids
out for sure!
MOMS TIP: Lastly, I just have a few suggestions to make your visit even more enjoyable:
* Get there right at 10:30 when it opens and get shaded table/chairs (to put your belongings). It's nice to have the shade during your lunch break. There are many in the Keiki Kove (little kids' playground area) in the middle of the park. You could also rent a locker for $10.
* Leave all valuables and extra money in the car or locker since your towels/coolers will be left unattended while you play.
* Bring sunscreen to re-apply during the day.
* Wear a water-proof watch because you loose track of time there.
* Come with at least 2 adults if you have kids that can ride the bigger rides and those that can't.
* Check the weather before going. They won't close the park if it rains, but will if there's lightning (and you don't want to be there if it does anyway).
* Come with a child-like attitude of PLAY, PLAY, PLAY!!!
BACK AGAIN THIS YEAR - Family Friendly Concerts & Dive-in Movies in the park! Check our Event Calendar & Special Events page for details and times! Dive-in Movies are on Friday Nights.
