This Week's Local Business Review

City of Frisco Annual Easter Eggstravaganza

Location: Pizza Hut Park

Address: 6000 West Main Street, Frisco

Date: March 20, 2010

The city of Frisco is known for is record-breaking egg hunts! This year the Easter Bunny will bring 60,000 eggs!  Bring your basket and get ready!

MOMS TIP: It can be very crowded. Imagine all those kids vying for tons of free eggs!  We went one year and I hate to tell you, we never returned.  This is nothing against the city, it was just too crowded for our taste.  Our boys were really little (ages 18 months & almost 3 yrs) at the time – the time when you want to go to egg hunts – but there were so many older kids we felt they were almost trampled.

MOMS TIP: Strollers are not allowed on the fields. Special concierge stroller parking will be available.

We are glad to see they have the ages separated out so 0-2 in is one group. The next group is age 3-12. That should probably be separated out so that 3 & 4 yr olds can be in one group. Once they reach 5 yrs old they are so fast & can pick up all the eggs before a 3 yr old even gets to it! Our little boys got 2 pieces of candy the year we went – that was it – 2 pieces.  Good thing they were so little they weren’t upset.

To avoid the crowded egg hunt you could go a little later or earlier. The first egg hunt for 0-2 yrs is at 2pm. For the older kids it starts at 2:30pm.  While the main attraction is the egg hunt, they also have bounce houses, face painting and other activities.

When we went there were a few booths with activities. There were no outside vendors but the Frisco Fire Dept brought some fire trucks for the kids to see and climb on.  Fire trucks are always a crowd pleaser and the firemen are always so nice!

This year the Parks & Recreation Department will also be holding a spring and summer Programs Expo.  They’ll have information on upcoming athletic, aquatic, and recreation classes, as well as special events.

If you’re feeling crafty you can enter the annual Easter Bonnet and tie contest. Wear your creations to the egg hunt or just make them & have fun. Click on the link above for contest rules.

Happy Hunting!
